“My Song Is No Longer Just a Song; It Has Become a National Campaign to Build the Country” — Lyricist Shashi Sharma Majgainya
KATHMANDU – Renowned lyricist and legal practitioner Shashi Sharma Majgainya has stated that his powerful anthem, “Jaag Yuva, Utha Yuva” (Wake Up Youth, Rise Up Youth), has transcended the boundaries of music to become a defining national movement. Originally penned to combat youth disillusionment and encourage domestic entrepreneurship, the song has now found its true resonance in Nepal’s rapidly shifting political landscape.
According to Majgainya, the results of the recently concluded general elections—where a significant wave of Gen-Z and youth leaders were elected to Parliament—have validated the core message of his lyrics. “When I wrote this song, my mission was to replace despair with a vision for the future,” he remarked. “Seeing the surge of young leadership now entering the policy-making level, I feel my words have found their ultimate purpose. This is no longer just a song; it has evolved into a creative leadership campaign for nation-building.”
The song serves as a clarion call for the youth to stop seeking opportunities solely through migration and instead focus on creating jobs and fostering an “entrepreneurial spirit” within Nepal. Majgainya emphasizes that the country’s strength lies in youth unity—urging the new generation to work together rather than remaining divided. As a legal advocate and a cultural leader, he expressed his profound satisfaction in using art as a vehicle for social transformation and national pride.
This high-energy anthem features the powerful vocals of legendary singers Shiva Pariyar and Indira Joshi, bringing an unmatched emotional depth to the lyrics. With music composed by B.P. Wagle and the creative concept led by producer Saroj Baniya, the project has become a viral sensation among the youth. The ongoing activism of the new generation today marks the beginning of what Majgainya describes as a “creative revolution” for a prosperous Nepal.
