Strengthening Global Partnerships: Shashi Sharma Majgainya Meets Vital Strategies Leadership in New York

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK — In a move to solidify long-term environmental cooperation, Mr. Shashi Sharma Majgainya, Head of the National Federation of Youth NGOs Nepal (NFYN), recently conducted a high-level partnership planning meeting at the Vital Strategies global headquarters. Located at 100 Broadway in the heart of Manhattan, this session served as a critical platform to refine the roadmap for the “Partnership for Healthy Cities” (PHC) initiative currently being implemented in Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).

The meeting was a vital opportunity for Mr. Majgainya, as the head of the lead implementing organization in Nepal, to engage directly with the Vital Strategies team, including Jemma and Tara. The discussions focused on the strategic “wayforward” for Nepal’s air quality policy, specifically exploring how to transition successful real-time monitoring projects into permanent, data-driven municipal legislation. This collaboration, supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies and the WHO, aims to ensure that the technical insights gained in New York are effectively applied to the streets of Kathmandu.

The dialogue at 100 Broadway marked a milestone in institutionalizing the relationship between NFYN and its international partners. By focusing on long-term planning rather than short-term goals, the meeting ensured that the PHC initiative will have a lasting impact on Kathmandu’s urban resilience and public health standards. Mr. Majgainya emphasized that these global policy insights are essential for creating a sustainable framework that protects the health of millions of Nepalese citizens.

Expressing deep gratitude for the warm hospitality and productive atmosphere provided by the Vital Strategies team, Mr. Majgainya noted that this visit was foundational for the next phase of implementation. The partnership is now poised to move forward with a strengthened vision, uniting international technical expertise with local grassroots action. As the project evolves, this Manhattan meeting will be remembered as the moment the long-term sustainability of Kathmandu’s air quality management was secured.
