Shashi Sharma Majgainya serves as the Central President and Focal Point to the Japan International Support Program (JISP) from the National Federation of Youth NGOsNepal (NFYN). With a background steeped in disaster management and community development, Shashi brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the project “Community-based Disaster Response and Management in Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and Saptakoshi Municipality of Saptari District.”

In his role as NFYN lead, Shashi provides strategic direction and oversight, ensuring the project’s objectives are met effectively. His leadership has been instrumental in fostering collaboration between stakeholders such as the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), NGOs/CBOs, and local communities. Through his adept coordination skills, Shashi facilitates smooth collaboration and resource mobilization for project activities.

Recognizing the importance of local capacity building in disaster management, Shashi prioritizes training and development initiatives for Disaster Management Volunteers, Ward Disaster Management Committee Members, and other stakeholders. By empowering these individuals, Shashi ensures they are equipped to respond effectively to disasters and support community resilience efforts.

Drawing on his extensive experience and networks, Shashi facilitates the transfer of knowledge and best practices from past disasters in Japan to inform community-based disaster response strategies in Nepal. His efforts in disseminating valuable lessons learned contribute significantly to enhancing disaster preparedness and mitigation efforts at the grassroots level.

Through active engagement with local communities, leaders, and social organizations, Shashi fosters a sense of ownership and collaboration, ensuring the sustainable integration of disaster response and management practices.
